| How to Enter a Golf Tournament Sweepstakes |
Many people practically make a career out of entering contests and sweepstakes. For instance, someone might enter a golf tournament sweepstakes to win a trip to a golf tournament, or perhaps a Disney World sweepstakes to win a fun vacation for the whole family. Some people are very good at finding contests for almost any type of prize, from an all expenses paid vacation down to a trinket for the kitchen.
You might remember the episode of Married with Children where Al and Peggy go on a free vacation, and the entire time they are being pressured to buy something. Although this was a great subject for a lot of jokes at the characters’ expense, fortunately it is far from the truth. Entering contests is a great way to win the occasional prize, and although they do generally require that you give the company your information, you also have a lot of choices these days as to how and when you want to be contacted.
The first thing, of course, is to be able to find contests you will be interested in entering. Most everyone is already familiar with the car sweepstakes often found in shopping malls, where a shiny new car is set up in the middle and you only have to fill out a form and drop it into the box of entries. However, this is hardly the only way to find contests.
Go online and use Google or another search engine to search for keywords such as golf tournament sweepstakes, Disney World sweepstakes, Camaro sweepstakes, or anything else you are interested in entering. Most likely you will get thousands of hits on your search. Then just weed through the first couple of pages, looking for contests that look authentic and non-spammy.
It is important to be careful when searching for golf tournament sweepstakes, because scammers often use disguises like this to try to get your personal information so that they can steal your identity. Be wary of sweepstakes that ask for too much information, such as a credit card number, or those that are supposedly being offered by a well-known company that doesn’t match the Web site. Your best bet is to enter contests offered by companies that are well known, or companies that you know and have done business with before.
A habit you should get into is researching a contest online before entering it. If the contest is a scam, chances are someone will have blogged about it, or written a review or a warning online.
Finally, make sure you read the terms and conditions and the privacy statement before entering any sweepstakes, such as a golf tournament contest. This will tell you what they plan to do with your contact information, whether they plan to sell the list to other companies, and how you can opt out if you choose.
Most likely you will need to put your opt-out request in writing, or sign in to your online account to change the settings. This is important if you do not want to receive solicitations from the company offering the contest or its partners, as by entering the contest you have formed a business relationship with them, and the Do Not Call List does not apply.
Once you have done your research and read the terms and conditions, you should be in the clear to enter the sweepstakes. Be sure to print the contest rules or write down information such as the contest deadline, when the winners will be announced, and whether there is a Web site where you can go to check the status.
Entering contests such as golf tournament sweepstakes can be a lot of fun, and people who frequently enter contests such as these dramatically increase their chances of winning something. Just be sure to take the proper precautions to keep yourself and your family safe. |
